ABOUT ME
KAROLINA MATUSZKIEWICZ
A violinist, singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist specialising in string and knee-bowed instruments. I play the following instruments: the kemanche, suka biłgorajska, fidel płocka, chordofon płocki, the kobyz, the ravanhastam and the gheychack.
A graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where she studied violin under Prof. Julia Jakimowicz-Jakowicz and Dr Jakub Jakowicz (2014), and a graduate of the Academy of Music in Kraków, where she studied the fiddle under Dr Maria Pomianowska (2019).
I played concerts in India, South Africa, Vietnam, China, Tunisia, England, Scotland, Germany, Denmark, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, Lithuania, Italy, France and Poland.
I often collaborate with Nikolą Kołodziejczyk, Sutari i Karoliną Cichą.
I was a founding member of the bands T/Aboret, Rozen, Karma Trio, Wiklinowa and Sentido, with whom I have performed.
W sierpniu 2026 roku wydałam swój pierwszy album solowy pt. „Studnia Dźwięków” już dostępny w serwisach streamingowyh.
I am currently working at Rebel Wolves on the music for the game "The Blood of Dawnwalker„
Współpracowałam z zespołami Kapela ze wsi Warszawa oraz LemON.
I have performed in numerous projects with Prof. Maria Pomianowska and Gerard Edery.
I have won prizes in competitions in the field of traditional music:
- Winner of the Grand Prix and the Audience Award (Burst of applause) for virtuosity, spiritual depth and independence of thought - Polish Radio Folk Competition Nowa Tradycja 2026
- Second place with the band ‘Karma Trio’ at the ‘True Musicians’ Competition at the Szczecin Philharmonic (2017)
- The Anna Kiełbusiewicz Individual Vocal Award at the Mikołajki Folk Festival in Lublin (2017)
- Third place with the trio ‘Karma Trio’ at the Mikołajki Folk Festival in Lublin (2017)
- Audience Award for the ‘Karma Trio’ at the Mikołajki Folk Festival in Lublin (2017)
- Grand Prix with the ‘T/Aboret’ quartet at the Mikołajki Folk Festival in Lublin (2016)
- Audience Award for the ‘T/Aboret’ quartet at the Mikołajki Folk Festival in Lublin (2016)
- Qualified twice for the final of the ‘Nowa Tradycja’ competition in Warsaw with the band ‘T/Aboret’ (2016, 2017)
